Fun: Your Most Interesting Web Searches

How you got here and other fun stuff

And now we’re going to have a little fun. Many of you now reading this have found me by searching for some pretty wild and crazy stuff. So, for the benefit of my regular readers and those of you who are new, I’ve decided to begin a new tradition of sorts. Every month Blogbat will feature the most interesting search phrases that got some of you here.

Your friend Flicka: We begin our fun and excitement with handing out the award for the most obsessed-over and unlikely set of search terms currently inundating unfortunate search engines everywhere. Most searchers who found me in September and October could not get enough of the recent Fox remake "snuff-film" about the horse named Flicka. In October, there were 107 such hits on poor Flicka alone, e.g. “why dis the flicka horses die?”. As many of you already know, several horses died under questionable circumstances during the making of that film, which inspired talk of new regulations to govern how horses are treated by the film industry; however, only a fraction of searchers specifically mentioned this in their search criteria. It seems instead the movie itself has gained quite a following among webrats everywhere. Still looking? You can read my Flicka posts here.

Blogbat is thrilled to have fans. I admit it was a little weird however to discover I had groupies at the last blogger convention I attended. Second-most interesting after “Flicka” (at least to me) was that my full name came up in three searches this month (two of which came from right here in my own back yard in Texas), my name and home town came up once, and “Blogbat” came up once. Can you say, “stalker”? And if so, does it make me even half as cool as Mark Levin??

So moving on, other interesting terms:

kgb swallow an agent working for the KGB whose job it is to seduce his or her target in order to extract information directly or indirectly by having other KGB members film, photograph, or otherwise record the event for good old fashioned blackmail. Used often, worked often.

khurram contacts mail If anyone has an idea how this search came to my door, I’ll give ‘em a virtual dollar.

free catfights video See above. Oh wait, they didn’t literally mean cats fighting, did they? I’m clueless, I admit.

jf-17 high resolution photo This is a Chinese-made fighter jet being sold to Pakistan along with other armament to show how close the two countries still are today. It was first test-flown in 2003.

sheet music everytime we touch –lyrics Cascada is a popular German dance-pop artist who managed to cross over into US markets much unlike Blümchen (Jasmin Wagner) whose English re-dubbed songs soundly tanked in Britain and never made it over the pond.

mceducation I love this word almost as much as “Mc World” – one of those Weltpolitik theories involving corporate conspiracies to homogenize the cultures of the world. Mc Education of course implies a typically inferior cookie-cutter product, as often found in the American public education system due to the lack of adequate competition and parental involvement in both the local education process and the electoral one.

alarm word root origin fire etymology four-alarm If one has managed to familiarize himself with words such as “etymology”, it would seem he would have already gotten past the meaning of “four-alarm”, but maybe that’s just me.

bat bite law suits Apparently someone is suing this blog alleging it bit them.

types of movement ideas in Beijing How about overthrow of the communist government and send the communist leaders to The Hague to stand trial until they can’t stand it anymore and keel over like Milosevic?

fidler on the roof blog If I were a rich man I’d check into this…

atlas shruggs libertarian Someone apparently with enough time on their hands to see if they could prove conclusively something they thought would riddle poor fellow blogger AS with scandal and shame: libertarianism. :p

will galveston texas enforce the immigration laws on illegals when given a ticket I can answer that right here: No. Illegal aliens are exempt from all laws which govern the rest of us, including traffic laws. If stopped by a traffic cop, simply inform him you are an illegal alien and cannot speak English. He’ll let you go as easy as that! (The preceding should not be construed as legal advice; the author is in no way responsible for those who choose to “experiment”).

staples servers still Serbia Apparently Serbian hackers “0wn d4 S3rv3rS” at Staples Office Supply…or not.

wheel torture death by Evidence of Yoda’s rather bizarre proclivities.

how to tie waxed string cable loom I’ve always wanted to know this!

what are the wots analysis of spy agencies outsourcing Maybe you should ask WOTS. And yes, it happens, and no, it is probably not a good idea for most countries, though Britain has essentially outsourced most of its worthwhile intelligence gathering to US agencies for both HUMINT and SIGINT, much to the Queen’s good fortune.

if you vomit in school is it state law to send them home No, but it may be enough for your mom to finally let you stay home and watch cartoons.

wash your hands song merrily There’s honestly nothing I can say here...

lockheed skunk works capuccio Cappy is a top exec at LSW. More on him here. And my post.

north korea kim ii underage girls Wouldn’t surprise me one bit. The man is a creep. If I saw him wandering around a playground, I’d call the cops, an ambulance, and then a few of my buddies. Did I type that out loud?

boeing unmanned little bird autonomous gdps How tweet it is!

maps of togo Africa A search I’ve been getting for at least a year (it’s right up there with “WTC man falling”). You can find the map here, if you still need it; as a convenience, we also offer that meal to-go…

russia victory day Out of the pages of ancient Russian history…

2 live crew the planet Is this an album, or did they finally leave us?

nellie olsen I couldn’t have made this up.

So these are just a few of the more interesting searches undertaken this month by you to bring you here. While odd and pretty strange some of you may be, I hope you keep coming back. There were two or three which actually weren’t fit to print. The rest of the searches were either after something bland such as “North Korea” or something having to do with Flicka, who apparently is your friend.
