Ode to the Putintate Putz

As luck would have it, everything has managed to hit the fan with respect to Russia while I'm too busy to blog about it. So, I threw together this little video blog instead (4 minutes). I think it sums up the whole picture rather nicely. The name of the video is "Chatter" and you'll see why. :) But also give some thought to what types of "chatter" are going on today and what it means for the interests of the Free World.

Music is by the Russian Red Army Choir with the audio remix by yours truly. Audio samples courtesy of the SVR (in Russian, Farsi, and Tajik), China's MSS or other service, the CIA, and the Mossad (of over-the-air messages from so-called "number stations" from clips available on the web).

Images come courtesy of the web via newswire, government or other odd source (most images have been stored on my computer for some time, so it's always challenging to know precisely).

Russia is making the revival of its aggressive counterintelligence state felt around the world, as the CIS seeks to remove enemies and forge alliances with states like China, North Korean, Iran, Syria, and others. Putin, a former KGB spook has been leading Russia back toward a reputation of significant influence in every corner of the globe.

The Empire is dead; long live the Empire.

I just heard a terrorism expert on Fox, didn't get his name, say Russia is officially now an emeny of the United States ... again. I think he may be right. The last straw for me was Russia giving the missile defense system to Iran, building Iran's nuclear sites, and working against the United States at the UN.

Frank Gaffney, by any chance? Although he's been getting it for some time, so maybe somebody trying to follow the trend now that it's popular. Though certainly the popularity speaks, but it usually says we are way past a host of easier solutions.

I guess it's easier for us to be enemies with Russia than say, China, since we wouldn't want to upset a few business men. China can shoot down American servicemen and hold them hostage and all Bush advisers can do is figure out a way to spin it so that it isn't the same thing the Iranians did to our embassy workers in 1979.

But realistically about Russia, low-level news-circuit chatter like the appearance on Fox is a long way from a top-level government position. Remember, Bush (aka America’s Yeltsin) "saw into (Putin's) soul"... Who needs facts when one's feelings make one the exclusive proprietor of one’s perceived truth? ;)
