Blogbat's Video Musician of the Week

This Week we're changing the name of our YouTube Musician of the Week feature to Blogbat's Video Musician of the Week. This made sense since our musical talent may not always come from EweTube.

We begin with our new name by featuring accomplished and celebrated late cellist Mstislav Rostropovich (c/o Cuts.com) performing an unusual interpretation of Bach's Cello Suite No. 1. Those of you familiar with Alessandro Scarlatti’s up-tempo version of Pachelbel’s Cannon and Gigue in D will enjoy this lively and difficult rendition. Some may feel Rostropovich rushes a beautiful melody, but it should be appreciated that he does not rush it in the sense that anything is slurred past or poorly articulated.

Enjoy:

I must admit I am a little jealous: I caught my cello the other day quietly watching this video from across the room in its corner longing to be in Rostropovich’s arms. But then I suppose that is the way of cellos; at least cellos with any good sense. Of course, I'm sure it doesn't help that I brought home that little stringed trollop of a violin the other day... ;)

By the way, to update you on our previously featured artist Rachel Correll, she won the singing competition and is now in line for the grand prize at year's end. Hopefully some smart talent spotter somewhere will catch one of her vids.
