Video Musician of the Week: Crooked Still

Crooked Still has been wowing audiences in the U.S., Canada, and Ireland since 2001 with its unique alternative “new-grass” sound. Crooked Still includes sultry vocalist Aoife O’Donovan, Rushad Eggleston on phenomenal cello, Dr. Gregory Liszt on banjo, and Corey DiMario at bass. Did you notice anything missing? As their website puts it, “here’s the catch: No electricity. No drums.” And yet the rhythms drive you so well you never miss them. Below via YouTube, Crooked Still performs “Orphan Girl” live at the Winnipeg Folk Festival:

Crooked Still’s two albums can be found at your local music store or on Rhapsody and other music services for download. You can also listen to their songs on their MySpace page for free.

Thanks to Caroline and Sherry for the heads’ up on this band.
